Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)
DSL offers affordable high-speed Internet access
using existing copper telephone lines. DSL provides connections
that are up to 35 times faster than dial-up modems. This means
Web sites load much more quickly, especially those containing
graphics, audio, or video. Additionally, e-mail moves faster
and valuable e-commerce business applications can be hosted
anywhere.
Unlike standard dial-up modems, DSL is always
on. This means no waiting to connect to the Internet or e-mail,
no busy signals, and no dropped connections. Multiple users
can connect at the same time, increasing productivity and
network flexibility in the office. Telecommuters can gain
quick access to their company network and conduct business
as if they were sitting in their office without tying up the
phone lines.
Ulink offers DSL solutions because they are ideal
for businesses that want hassle-free high-speed access. Ulink
provides exceptional customer service and solutions that are
tailor made for businesses.
Types of Broadband
Ulink provides business class solutions, therefore
we provide SDSL, IDSL and Reach options. Telephone companies
offer "business" ADSL service options which don't
have service level agreements and don't provide the security
that business customers require. ADSL uses a bridge to deliver
service which provides little to no security, making your
network vulnerable to attacks. Essentially the telephone companies
are taking a residential product and calling it a business
product. With Ulink Broadband you get a business product that
has symmetrical speeds, security and a service level agreement
- all of which are imperative to business customers.
Ulink SDSL (Symmetrical Digital Subscriber Line)
Ulink SDSL is a symmetrical service, which means
that information travels upstream (to the Internet) and downstream
(from the Internet) at the same rate. SDSL was designed for
applications requiring high speeds in both directions and
is suited for business applications because of its symmetrical
nature. Ulink SDSL comes with service level agreements that
guarantee optimal performance. Ulink SDSL also comes with
a router that includes firewall software. This firewall software
enables you to build a barrier between your network and computer
hackers. Ulink SDSL speeds begin at 192 Kbps and go as high
as 1.1 Mbps.
Ulink IDSL (ISDN DSL)
Ulink IDSL is essentially used to provide DSL
service to customers who do not qualify for SDSL because of
distance limitations or line quality. Ulink IDSL provides
all of the benefits of SDSL but is capable of reaching customers
who are up to 26,000 feet away from the Central Office (CO).
Ulink IDSL operates at a symmetrical speed of 128 Kbps.
Ulink Reach
Ulink Reach provides high-speed access to customers
who do not qualify for alternative Broadband solutions, such
as SDSL or IDSL. Ulink Reach speeds begin at 384 Kbps and
go as high as 1.5 Mbps. With Ulink's Reach, more people than
ever can experience the power of Broadband.
ADSL (Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line)
ADSL is an asymmetrical service, which means
that information travels downstream (from the Internet) at
a different rate than it travels upstream (sending to the
Internet). ADSL is faster downstream than upstream because
it was designed for residential power users who spend most
of their time online downloading information.
ADSL is an asymmetrical service that is most
commonly offered by telephone companies. ADSL is not suited
for business uses such as hosting Web or e-mail servers. In
addition, ADSL often uses a bridge, instead of a router, which
provides little to no security, making your network vulnerable
to attacks. Finally, the Telephone companies generally don't
offer service level agreements on their ADSL service because
their target customers are residential.
